Tourism in Spain, Canary Islands

Spain is a tourist country , attending million foreign tourists every year, attracted by its beaches , the rich artistic heritage of the country and the variety of gastronomic offers , in addition to being one of the world's enpatrimonio culturally rich nations. Currently , according to the 2011 report of the World Tourism Organization, Spain is the fourth country in the world in number of foreign tourists, with 52.7 million annual tourists in 2010 , surpassed only by France, the United States and China . Tourism accounts for about 10% of the gross domestic product of the country. Regarding sector revenues by country, Spain is the second country in the world , second only to the United States. The main destination is Barcelona Catalonia being also the main tourist - receiving city followed by the Balearic and Canary Islands .




In previous decades was promoted almost exclusively on tourism of sun and beach, which helped , and contributes a lot warmer and sunnier than other European countries climate. Summer temperatures usually vary between 20 and 40 and many regions have over 300 days of sunshine per year , with generally dry summers. Many coastal towns are lined with hotels, restaurants and apartment buildings at the foot of the beach.
Northern Spain has a somewhat cooler and wetter climate. Many Spaniards and foreigners are attracted Elcamino of Santiago or the festival of San Fermin. There is so much cliffs as quiet and secluded beaches . This area combines accommodations with large sandy beaches with good weather in summer and in the Galician Rias . The main cause of tourism in the north of the country is the beauty of the area ( geography, Galician rials ; Cantabrian coast , Picos de Europa , etc. ) and rich cooking .
The Spanish cuisine is vast and varied, with dishes such as paella, Madrid stew , the stew , Iberian eljamón , shellfish or fish. Olive oil , of which Spain is the largest producer , is used in a variety of dishes, and is very popular in other countries.
In recent years there has been growing interest in cultural tourism in Spain .
